Linear

Connect Linear so agents can file issues from investigations, update statuses, and keep your issue tracker in sync with what they find.

Setup

1. In Linear, open Settings and navigate to Security & access.
2. Under Personal API keys, create a key. It needs write access so agents can create and update issues.
3. Paste the key into Polylane. Polylane validates it against your Linear workspace and connects.

Your key is encrypted before it is stored, and the agent never sees it.

What agents can do

• List teams, workflow states, members, and projects
• List, search, and read issues with their recent comments
• Create issues from investigation findings, with the evidence trail in the description
• Update issue state, priority, assignee, project, labels, and due date
• Comment on issues with findings and status
• Run arbitrary GraphQL against the Linear API for anything not covered above; mutations pass the same confirmation gate

Issue writes always ask for confirmation before they execute.

Webhooks and triage

Connecting registers a Polylane webhook in your Linear workspace, covering issues in all public teams. With the webhook in place:

• Issues that become urgent land as alerts and get triaged as they fire; de-escalating or completing the issue resolves the alert.

Creating the webhook requires the API key's user to be a workspace admin in Linear. A non-admin key still connects and every agent tool works; only the webhook-driven triage is skipped.

Troubleshooting

"Invalid API key" error

• Use a personal API key from Security & access; OAuth tokens are not supported. Polylane sends the key as-is in the Authorization header, with no Bearer prefix, exactly as Linear expects for personal keys.
• Check that the key has not been revoked in Linear.

No alerts or triggers from Linear

• Webhook creation needs a workspace admin's key. Reconnect with an admin's key to enable webhook-driven triage and triggers.

Disconnecting

Disconnect Linear in Polylane, which also removes the webhook it registered, then revoke the API key in Linear.
